Lush X Scooby-Doo

Packaging Design

THE BRIEF

Lush has been shaking up the cosmetics industry for over 30 years - fresh, handmade, vegetarian, and always against animal testing. So when they landed a collaboration with one of the most beloved cartoon franchises of all time, the brief was as fun as it sounds: design the packaging for a full Scooby-Doo product range, including body spray, shower gel, shower jelly, and a gift box shaped like the Mystery Machine. Jinkies!

THE WORK

The creative challenge was a delightful one - how do you honour two iconic visual identities without one overshadowing the other? I kept Lush's iconic typeface and packaging structure firmly in place, then layered in the unmistakable world of Scooby-Doo through colour, texture and character illustration. Purples, blues and greens brought the cartoon's energy to the shelf, while I used bold layouts and layered textures to make sure everything felt fun yet considered.

What made this range special was that each product had its own story to tell. I used character illustrations and thoughtful layout to bring each one to life - Mystery Inc. shower gel championed the whole gang, while Zoinks! shower jelly put the villains centre stage. Playful enough for kids, nostalgic enough for everyone else.

THE OUTCOME

The range landed in 900+ Lush stores globally and was met with an overwhelmingly warm response from staff, customers and social media alike. The client called it one of the strongest creative looks and feels they'd had all year - which, for a brand with 30 years of iconic packaging behind them, is not a small thing to say.

"Lils is an absolute pleasure to work with, she really felt like an extension of our team. She has an amazing creative mindset, alongside a very strong technical ability. The final result of the Lush × Scooby Doo campaign wouldn't have been the same without her work. We would love to work with her again."
